Kiran, the daughter of a rich dancer, renounces her mother's profession and is happily married to Sadanand. False social prejudices about her parentage ruin her happiness, and her husband dies suddenly in an accident. To prevent her little son Prakash from becoming a prey of wrong social conceptions like herself she entrusts his upbringing to one of her late husband's friend, Dwarkanath and retires from life.
Twenty two years pass. Prakash grows up with Dwarkanath's own children, Balraj and Lata. He is deeply in love with Lata who reciprocates his feelings. Dwarkanath agrees to get them married as soon as Prakash obtains his degree.
But Fate intervenes and young Balraj son of Dwarknath an irresponsible youth, stumbles by chance on Kiran's secret He threatens her with exposure and her son with social disgrace unless she pays him three hundred rupees a month, Kiran agrees to pay for her son's sake and has to become a Dancer to obtain the money.
During a quarrel Prakash learns his mother's story from Balraj. He hastens at once to her side. Mother and son are united and live happily for a while, But Kiran has found her son only to lose him Prakash is too deeply in love with Lata to be happy without her, And what parents would permit their daughter to marry a dancer's son? So Kiran makes another sacrifice. To ensure her son's happiness she steals away one night without his knowledge to an unknown destination. Is there no end to a woman's suffering in this world? Must she always remain the victim of Society's blind prejudices?
